Software Description:

Net-Probe - Networked device monitoring, with graphs, alarms, actions & GPS Tracking
Real-time networked device and network monitoring, integrating graphs, alarms, GPS tracking, notifications (send email or SMS etc) and actions (service restart etc) onto a rich graphical representation available through a web browser as well as a dedicated application. Wizard Based, including start-up wizard used to scan and draw a network in a few easy steps. Extreme flexibility allows alarm components to be extended by the end user to facilitate the monitoring of any networked device, even the actions can be extended by the user to perform whatever task is required on an alarm state change. Drawing elements have been kept as simple as possible enabling for simple, quick and neat representations of the monitored environment to be setup. Optional task bar band and alerter components extend the interface onto the desktop. Devices with a GPS attached can have their location tracked and recorded on a map background.

  • Draw a representation of a network in a few simple steps. The representation can include interface graphs and system/network alarms
  • Track the position of a device using information from a GPS. This enables the location of a device to be recorded and displayed on a map background
  • 5 different methods of obtaining information about the state of a network/computer/device
  • Graphs, measurements obtained by using any of the four methods above can be drawn onto a graph, which include zooming and printing features
  • Alarms, monitoring aspects of a network or computers and can trigger an action if certain conditions are met. The Action could send out a notification or actually attempt to repair the fault. The ability to detect a host failure has been included. This makes notification type actions more efficient by not sending notifications for all services when a host fails, but only a notification for a host failure
  • Extended monitoring abilities that should allow an administrator to be aware of problems before customers/users are
  • A web site has been included, showing workspaces, graphs, alarms and tracking data
  • Workspaces support multiple modes of operation, allowing for you to select how actively the network is monitored

  • Simple drawing tools that allow components of a network to be quickly and effectively represented
  • Shortcuts to other external applications can be easily added. If you need to use VNC to connect to a server, create a shortcut and simply right clicking on the graphic representation of the server will allow for the launching of VNC Client. Also useful for maintaining documentation and/or rapidly getting to the external tools required for maintenance
  • Can be run as a service
  • Allows one of the graphs to also be displayed in the Task Bar (i.e. a Desktop Band)
  • An Alerter can sit in the task bar informing the user if any of the checks are indicating a network/server problem. This Alerter can connect to the monitoring computer through the internet
  • An authentication system permitting two levels of access, View or Edit/View
  • ActiveX components
  • Allowing for integration into other applications, including the drawing of workspace, graphs, alarms etc
  • Network testing components make many types of checks possible from VB-Script, including
